Hurricane Hilary brought much excitement to San Diego in August. Many residents prepared by stocking up on batteries, sandbags, plywood, transistor radios, bottled water, and nonperishable foods in preparation for this historic event. The National Hurricane Center and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center issued key messages about making preparations for flooding impacts as heavy rainfall was forecast for the Southwestern United States with San Diego County expected to receive between two and three inches of rain in a two-day period.
